Can Robert Penner Sing Nepali Songs?
Nep Entertainment, a Calgary based organization that specializes in events promotions and helps organize local Nepalese events shared a video of Robert Penner from July 9, 2013. In the video, Penner is dressed in an ethnic daura suruwal with dhaka topi. He introduces himself in Nepali and sings a beautiful Nepali song. From the cheers of the crowd, it appears they approve of his singing and dancing.
Meanwhile, on May 2, 2016 Nepal Police arrested Robert Penner without a cause, detained him for 26 hours and asked him to ‘voluntarily leave’ Nepal within two days. The Immigration Department claimed that Robert’s posts on social media ‘may jeopardize national integrity’.
The people of Nepal have poured their love and support for Robert Penner as he appears in Supreme Court tomorrow to appeal against his deportation. Some have started an online petition to stop his deportation. Others started a facebook page Stand With Robert Penner to disseminate information about who Robert Penner is.
