Today marks the 24th day since Madhesh Andolan III began in Nepal.

32 protesters injured in clash with police in Janakpur

More than 32 local protesters were injured in a clash with security personnel in Janakpur, Dhanusha district on Tuesday. The injured agitators including local leaders of UDMF have been admitted to Janakpur Zonal Hospital for treatment. Most of them sustained serious injuries to the head and legs, informed doctors.

Police also baton-charged commuters and locals, entering into their houses, according to the locals themselves. According to one of them, Munna Mestar, police beat him up when he was in his hut on the premises of Gopal Dharmashala. He sustained head injuries and is receiving treatment at Janakpur Zonal Hospital, as per Shesh Narayan Yadav, coordinator of the protest steering committee for Dhanusha.

Demonstrators vandalize District Education Office in Jaleshwar 

Demonstrators vandalized the district education office in Jaleshwar, district headquarters of Mahottari, which has remained tense due to violent protests for the last week.

A team of security personnel reached the education office soon after agitating demonstrators set it on fire. Although they doused the fire, the agitators had already smashed the doors and windows and caused other damage, according to DEO staff.

Dhoti rallies staged in Siraha

Demanding an identity-based federal province, hundreds of locals and agitating cadres of the UDMF staged dhoti rallies in Lahan, Siraha. “We are demanding our rights with self-respect and cultural identity,” said Satya Narayan Yadav, advisor of Gopal Sewa Samiti. The Samiti is an organization of Yadavs. Over 100 Samiti members in dhoti and kurta  demonstrated in Lahan.
