Madhesi front leaders continue obstruction Indo-Nepal border points

Cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have continued to create blockade at Indo-Nepal border points in Biratnagar, Birgunj and Nepalgunj on Saturday, third consecutive day of the blockade.

A clash between protesters and security personnel has left nine of them injured at the Nepalgunj-Rupaidiha border point. The injured four are police personnel while five are cadres of agitating UDMF.

Ex PM  Sr Maoist leader quits party, to join Madhesi movement

Former Nepal prime minister and senior Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai quit the party and also resigned as a lawmaker. Following his resignation, Bhattarai, who has expressed his sympathy toward agitating Madhesi people is reported to join the ongoing Madhesi movement. As he is said to be closer to India, can pave the way in resolving the current political crisis.

Govt. enforces odd-even system for autos  over petroleum shortage

Issuing a press release today, the Ministry of Home and Affairs (MoHA) has decided to enforce an ´odd-even license plate system´across the country from Sunday. As per the release, the vehicles bearing license plates with odd numbers will be allowed to ply on roads on dates ending in odd number and vice versa.

The UDMF’s protests blocking the Indo-Nepal border points have caused disruption in supply of petrol products from India.
