ETHNIC GROUPS – STATE 4

In state 4, the ten largest ethnic groups in descending order are:

Brahman – Hill
Magar
Chhetree
Gurung
Kami
Newar
Tharu
Sarki
Damai/Dholi
Tamang

The ethnic majority in state 4 belongs to Brahman – Hill. Often, Chhetree and Brahmans are lumped into one group by indigenous group as the elite class of Nepal who have a disproportionately higher representation in higher echelons of the state services. If this allegation is true, Chhetree-Brahman unity will have a majority in this state unless Magar, Gurung, and Tamang can convince other ethnic groups to vote unitedly (in exchange for some favors) to have a majority in elected bodies.
