Nepalis Stage a Multiethnic Dress Rally in US
Nepalis in America staged a multiethnic dress rally to show off the multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-linguistic character of Nepal. “Our goal was to showcase the true diversity that comprises Nepal,” said Satendra Sah, coordinator of the Nepal Parade rally.
Madhesis joined in wearing dhotis.
Janajatis and Newars sang and danced in their traditional attire.
Children also joined their parents, dressed in beautiful traditional attire.
The atmosphere was joyous and the message was of unity and peace.
Such positive messages of unity in diversity abroad will help alleviate ethnic tensions in the home country and also create a good image of Nepal abroad.
